Etch-a-Sketch Bio
Born in Atlanta, GA in the late 50′s . Loved to draw from an early age. Received first etch-a-sketch at the age of five. Wore out that etch-a-sketch. Received second etch-a-sketch at age of seven.
Used Dad’s Polaroid and then Argus C3 camera to take family photos during teenage years. Attended Art Institute of Atlanta to study photography. Shot with an Olympus OM-1 … favorite lens: 24mm f2.8. Worked for small newspaper in Thomasville, Georgia before returning to school. Received BS in Mass Comm from Florida State University.

Worked as a staff photojournalist for newspapers in Florida including the St. Pete Times. Switched to Nikon. Freelanced for a while. Bought a Leica M4-P with a 35mm f2 for personal documentary work.
Went back to school again to get an MA in Journalism from Indiana University. Worked as picture editor for the Indianapolis Star. Went back to school again to get a PhD from IU.
Taught photojournalism at several colleges and universities including Florida Southern and the University of Southern Mississippi. Switched to Canon.
Decided to go back to school again! Finished an M.Div. at Emory University in 2009. Worked as a chaplain intern at Grady Hospital summer ’08 and as a resident chaplain at Atlanta Medical Center in 2009 and 2010.
Working full-time as a wedding and lifestyle photojournalist and photo spirituality workshop leader.
