Father's Day Memories | Atlanta Wedding Photographer

Here are a few old photos of my adorable Dad when he was quite young ... before he even met my Mom. Love the hand-colored photos, the hair and the tie.

When you have a Dad as awesome as my Dad was, you end up with lots of wonderful memories that live on after he's no longer with you. Thankfully a few of my memories of my Dad are saved on 8 mm movie film, because I was too young in this one to have an actual memory. The movie memory is delightful to watch, though.

Cindy Brown

I'm an Atlanta wedding photographer who takes soulful, quirky and honest photos ...

I'm also an adventurous traveler and all-round nerd. I love to hike with my beagle/cattle dog Roux and best friend/spouse.

I was born in Atlanta, moved around a lot--30 cities and 5 states--and then came back.

After graduating from the Art Institute of Atlanta, I took a job at asmall newspaper in south Georgia, where I photographedhospital teas, pecan farmers, and beauty queens.

I photographed a biker funeral, death penalty protests andTed Bundy while interning with the Associated Press.

While a photographer for two dailies in Florida, I photographed Ronald Reagan, a train derailment and the dedication of a screened-in porch.

An unexpected life turn took me to Vermont where I fell in love with Bernie Sanders and on to Indiana, where I edited photos for a major daily, and nerded out getting a master’s and PhD.

After teaching photojournalism at colleges and universities in Florida, Indiana and Mississippi, I returned to Atlanta to earn myfifth degree--a Master's of Divinity.

My passion for storytelling with my camera and my interest in religious diversity led my to the field of wedding photojournalism.

I have documented weddings large and small, Unitarian and Pagan, indoors and out, Christian and Muslim, in backyards and in churches. The most exotic wedding I have photographed took place in Mexico and was officiated by aMayan shaman.

When I'm not photographing weddings, portraits or corporate events, I work on personal photo projects, visit friends in amemory-care home, and volunteer at a recovery center.

Sydney's Christening

I had the privilege of documenting the christening of a beautiful baby at the Ida Cason Chapel in Callaway Gardens this past Saturday. Here are a few of my favorites.

The one with her Dad is my absolute favorite.

A reception at C'Sons Restaurant on Main Street in LaGrange followed the christening ceremony. Sydney changed into an adorable sundress and continued to be the center of attention.

And then Sydney's Dad surprised Mom with a birthday cupcake.

OK, so I decided I had to record something on the Les Paul Google guitar and the most likely candidate for a wedding photography blog was "Here Comes the Bride" so here tis. For anyone else who wants to record their own rendition of a popular song, or of a song of their own making, here's where the Google Guitar lives now. Just hit the little gray record button in the lower right portion of the guitar.

Front Porch Shave

Here are a couple of my favorite photos from one of my former students, Katie Carter. She works for the Vicksburg Post these days. The first photo is a feature photo she took of a fellow enjoying a shave on his front porch. I love it.

The second photo is of children playing basketball in front of a FEMA trailer in Gautier, Mississippi -- truly a decisive moment.

Atlanta Portrait Photography: Lori and Matt's Avondale Engagement Safari

Lori and Matt are getting married in October here in Atlanta. We wandered around the Avondale Estates neighborhood yesterday morning viewing the scenery, imbibing in some Ubran Grounds Coffee, saying Hello to some of Lori's old friends at the James Joyce Irish Pub and taking engagement portraits. Here are a few of my favorites from the day. Thanks to Mary Charles, who lives in the house Lori's grandmother used to own and has some awesome gardens, to the folks at Urban Grounds Coffee and at the James Joyce Irish Pub, for allowing us to take photos on their property.

Atlanta Wedding Photojournalist: Kate and Kyle's Emory/Watershed Restaurant Wedding

My assistant photographer, Sharon McMahon, and I had the privilege of photographing Kate Floyd and Kyle Tau's wedding and reception yesterday. Kate and Kyle and family, along with the wedding planners from Wedding Soiree pulled together everything necessary for an awesome wedding--a beautiful dress and veil for the bride, gorgeous flowers by Bloom Floral Design, handsome tuxedos for the guys, some delicious Southern food and drink from the Chef Joe Truex and crew, and a down-home, kicking, bluegrass band DejaBlue. The wedding was performed by Kate's grandfather in Cannon Chapel on the Emory Campus and the reception took place at The Watershed Restaurant in Decatur.

Here are a few of my favorites. (I'm holding back some of the best for the slideshow I'm working on, so stay tuned for more.)
