/Relaxed? You better believe it.
Aaron and Jamie's wedding and reception were both chill. Low-key all the way. Gotta love it.

Thank the Divine Spirit that this past weekend we had no paid weddings on the books. Because we needed the time to document reactions to the historic Supreme Court Decision that paved the way for same-sex weddings across the country. Here are few of our favorites from yesterday's 101 Gay Weddings event at the Intercontinental Hotel in Buckhead.

What do you get when you cross a journalist with a chaplain? A personal historian. Yep, that's right ... a personal historian--someone who helps you preserve your history, usually for family, friends and future generations.
The journalist in me loves to hear a good story and delights in asking just the right questions to elicit the details that bring the story to life. The chaplain in me loves to listen, too, attentively, without judgment or the need to persuade.
Check out this fun outtake from our first video history interview. This was shot before the interview actually started.

My new intern, Molly H-G, helped me design this album for Alison and Abe who got married at the Academy of Medicine last month. Isn't it awesome?
The Academy of Medicine is a part of Georgia Tech and a great place for a wedding. One of the things I like most about it as a venue, is that there a number of different rooms where guests can hang out after dinner. Those who want to dance can stay on the dance floor in the room with the DJ. While those who would like a little less noise can retire to a quieter room.

As I was checking out all my gear for this afternoon's shoot, I decided to take a photograph so you could see what I usually bring with me when I'm photographing a large event.
Canon 6D -- full sensor DSLR Canon 7D -- cropped sensor DSLR Canon 70D -- cropped sensor DSLR Canon 5D -- full sensor DSLR 70-200mm f 2.8 telephoto lens with image stabilzation 85mm f1.8 telephoto lens 50mm f1.4 normal lens 60mm f2.8 macro lens 16mm-35mm f2.8 wide angle zoom 24-70mm f2.8 wide to telephoto zoom 5 speedlight flash units 2 radio remotes 1 quantum flash Flash meter Video light CF and SD memory cards (about 100 GB total) Light stands, flash modifiers, umbrellas, etc. Altoids and Ibuprofen (not pictured)
In a perfect world, I spend the day before an event and/or the early part of the day of the event charging batteries, cleaning lenses and testing remote flash functioning.
Of course, in the real world it doesn't matter the gear you use or how often you clean your lenses, it's the results that count.Check out a few of my bar mitzvah photos here.
