Carnella and Aaron's Helen Engagement Session

Carnella and Aaron met one year ago and hit it off right away.

To Carnella’s delight, Aaron proposed on Feb 13 at Carnella’s birthday. Soon thereafter, they made plans for engagement celebration activities, including a photo shoot. Unfortunately COVID 19 hit and they had to cancel those plans.

Despite that hiccup, they have made plans for a wedding in 2021.

And they were able to set up an engagement shoot in Helen, Georgia, where the photos below were taken. They turned the session into an overnight getaway in the tiny “Alpine town.”

I photographed a biker funeral, death penalty protests andTed Bundy while interning with the Associated Press.

While a photographer for two dailies in Florida, I photographed Ronald Reagan, a train derailment and the dedication of a screened-in porch.

An unexpected life turn took me to Vermont where I fell in love with Bernie Sanders and on to Indiana, where I edited photos for a major daily, and nerded out getting a master’s and PhD.

After teaching photojournalism at colleges and universities in Florida, Indiana and Mississippi, I returned to Atlanta to earn myfifth degree--a Master's of Divinity.

My passion for storytelling with my camera and my interest in religious diversity led my to the field of wedding photojournalism.

I have documented weddings large and small, Unitarian and Pagan, indoors and out, Christian and Muslim, in backyards and in churches. The most exotic wedding I have photographed took place in Mexico and was officiated by aMayan shaman.

When I'm not photographing weddings, portraits or corporate events, I work on personal photo projects, visit friends in amemory-care home, and volunteer at a recovery center.

Yellow Ribbon Couples' Portrait in Pine Lake

A few years back I joined a group of volunteers called Yellow Ribbon Photographers.

Photographers who join agree to provide a photo session along with several prints to military personnel about to deploy.

About a month ago, I got my first call from a couple interested in taking me up on my offer. Peter and Lauren are both in the Air Force and are about to be deployed to Germany.

What a fun duo! I had a blast capturing the love and adoration they have for each other.

Andy Proposes - Karen Says "Yes" | Atlanta Engagement Photographer

My friend and classmate Andy Jones sent me an e-mail on Facebook a few weeks back asking if I would like to take photos of him as he proposed to his girlfriend Karen. I told him I would be delighted. We set about to arrange the surprise. Andy decided he would propose after a romantic picnic in Lullwater Park near Emory. I was given heads up on when and where the picnic would take place. I even had the chance to give Andy a bit of advice when he told me he was nervous about proposing.

After determining that Andy's nerves were getting the best of him, not because he was afraid Karen would say "No," but because he was afraid he "wouldn't do it right," I told him as long as he did it like Andy, she would be delighted.

He did it just like Andy, and Karen was delighted. As you can see in the following photos.
