Metro Atlanta Chamber at the InterContinental Buckhead

Glad to report that I've been quite busy the past couple of months. The paying gigs have left me scrambling to share photos from some of my favorite networking events. I am just now getting around to posting a few favorite photos from the Feb. 24th Metro Atlanta Chamber business to business event at the InterContinental Buckhead. The hotel is gorgeous as you can see in the photos below.

I'm an Atlanta wedding photographer who takes soulful, quirky and honest photos ...

I'm also an adventurous traveler and all-round nerd. I love to hike with my beagle/cattle dog Roux and best friend/spouse.

I was born in Atlanta, moved around a lot--30 cities and 5 states--and then came back.

After graduating from the Art Institute of Atlanta, I took a job at asmall newspaper in south Georgia, where I photographedhospital teas, pecan farmers, and beauty queens.

I photographed a biker funeral, death penalty protests andTed Bundy while interning with the Associated Press.

While a photographer for two dailies in Florida, I photographed Ronald Reagan, a train derailment and the dedication of a screened-in porch.

An unexpected life turn took me to Vermont where I fell in love with Bernie Sanders and on to Indiana, where I edited photos for a major daily, and nerded out getting a master’s and PhD.

After teaching photojournalism at colleges and universities in Florida, Indiana and Mississippi, I returned to Atlanta to earn myfifth degree--a Master's of Divinity.

My passion for storytelling with my camera and my interest in religious diversity led my to the field of wedding photojournalism.

I have documented weddings large and small, Unitarian and Pagan, indoors and out, Christian and Muslim, in backyards and in churches. The most exotic wedding I have photographed took place in Mexico and was officiated by aMayan shaman.

When I'm not photographing weddings, portraits or corporate events, I work on personal photo projects, visit friends in amemory-care home, and volunteer at a recovery center.

Tom and Shari's Backyard Wedding | Atlanta Wedding Photojournalism

I photographed Tom and Shari's lovely backyard wedding a couple of weekends ago in Alpharetta, GA. Their friend Jan offered her lovely yard for the ceremony and celebration. Friends and family witnessed a touching union of two committed Christians. And then everyone had lots of fun dancing and enjoying wonderful food and drink. Here are a few of my favorite photos from the day.

Schloemer Business Services Launch Party | Atlanta Event Photographer

I've been busy this month photographing people and events and haven't kept my blog as up to date as I'd like. Trying to catch up and so today I'm sharing photos from the Launch Party for Schloemer Business Services that took place on Feb 16th at the Hudson Grille Midtown. Turnout for the party was great with about 150 guests attending to celebrate Pam Schloemer's success.

The party was a fundraiser for Leader Dogs for the Blind, an organization founded by three Detroit area Lyon's Club members in 1939 that trains and provides guide dogs to people who are seeing impaired. Pam is a member of the Lyon's Club International and the Leader Dog program is near and dear to her heart. She was glad to announce at the end of the evening that the folks attending the party had raised more than $600 for the Leader Dog Foundation.

Here are a few of my favorite photos from the night:

Great Feedback from Client about New Loktah DVD Case

I finally sent out a DVD in my cool new eco-friendly DVD case from Loktah. Here's what the client had to say: "Thank you for sending the DVD - in such a handsome package, no less! We looked at the images again, and are grateful to you for capturing the good feeling that was evident that evening. It must be satisfying to contribute to people's memories in such a fashion. May you flourish!" Abe

The Next Cool Thing Event Fundraiser for the Georgia Production Partnership

next_cool_thing_0007.jpg

On Saturday evening my partner and I attended The Next Cool Thing Event, thanks to my new networking friend David Fritsch. The event, which took place in a 90,000 square-foot warehouse, was a fundraiser for the Georgia Production Partnership designed to promote networking among professionals in the film & TV, entertainment, design, performing arts and event industries. I spent much of the night eating the wonderful food fare available there ... kudos to the crab cakes from Six Feet Under. But I was able to take a few photos, as well. Here are a few of my favorite images from the night.

Playground Portraits at Stone Mountain Park

Capturing the personality of young children is so much fun. So many of them wear their personality on their sleeve. But put them in a photo studio and sometimes that sparkling personality loses its shine. That's why I like to take children's portraits in a playground, park or even in their on home where they can be themselves without worrying about the camera. Recently I went to Stone Mountain Park with Addy and Ansley where we played at the Old Grist Mill and on the playground. Here are a few of my favorite portraits from the day:
