The Perfect Wedding Guide Royal Affair and a few Royal Wedding Cartoons

Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending the Perfect Wedding Guide's Royal Affair Luncheon at The Carter Center. BB Webb, Owner of the Carl House (a gorgeous wedding venue in Auburn, Georgia) spoke to the sold-out crowd about Telling the Story of our Businesses. I left with some concrete ideas about ways to imaginatively create a business with a happy ending. And I got to take home this lovely photograph of an encounter I had with Prince William and the lovely Kate Middleton (thanks to the folks at flippity doo da.)

This morning as I was perusing the Atlanta Journal Constitution, I found this wonderful cartoon by Mike Luckovich, which is not longer online in 2019. :)

Which sent me in search of other royal wedding cartoons. Here's a few links I found:

MSNBC slideshow of wedding cartoons

Mail Online | Comic Strip | This is not a cartoon, but a real comic strip, like Dick Tracy.

I'm an Atlanta wedding photographer who takes soulful, quirky and honest photos ...

I'm also an adventurous traveler and all-round nerd. I love to hike with my beagle/cattle dog Roux and best friend/spouse.

I was born in Atlanta, moved around a lot--30 cities and 5 states--and then came back.

After graduating from the Art Institute of Atlanta, I took a job at asmall newspaper in south Georgia, where I photographedhospital teas, pecan farmers, and beauty queens.

I photographed a biker funeral, death penalty protests andTed Bundy while interning with the Associated Press.

While a photographer for two dailies in Florida, I photographed Ronald Reagan, a train derailment and the dedication of a screened-in porch.

An unexpected life turn took me to Vermont where I fell in love with Bernie Sanders and on to Indiana, where I edited photos for a major daily, and nerded out getting a master’s and PhD.

After teaching photojournalism at colleges and universities in Florida, Indiana and Mississippi, I returned to Atlanta to earn myfifth degree--a Master's of Divinity.

My passion for storytelling with my camera and my interest in religious diversity led my to the field of wedding photojournalism.

I have documented weddings large and small, Unitarian and Pagan, indoors and out, Christian and Muslim, in backyards and in churches. The most exotic wedding I have photographed took place in Mexico and was officiated by aMayan shaman.

When I'm not photographing weddings, portraits or corporate events, I work on personal photo projects, visit friends in amemory-care home, and volunteer at a recovery center.

Greener Wedding Photography: White Glove's Eco Friendly Wedding Albums

eco_book.jpg

I've been working to green my photography business for quite some time. Right now I'm in the process of looking for the perfect eco-friendly wedding album to offer couples. Here's a video from White Glove First Edition Books, the album company that is at the top of the list right now. I'm planning to order a copy to have available for everyone to see at the eco-friendly wedding show I'll have a booth at in June. Pay attention to the tables while the video is playing and you'll see they offer a wide variety of eco-friendly album cover materials.

MAC meets at one of Atlanta's Best Places to Work: Newell Rubbermaid

The Metro Atlanta Chamber, along with the folks at Newell Rubbermaid, hosted a great networking event Wednesday night in Sandy Springs. Mark Ketchum, President & CEO, Newell Rubbermaid, informed guests of the wide range of "Brands That Matter" produced by Newell Rubbermaid. Guests had the opportunity to tour a lobby filled with Newell Rubbermaid products while networking with other business people from the area. Here are a few favorite photos from the event:

Like Nothing You've Ever Seen in the Atlanta Area: Foxhall Resort and Sporting Club

Foxhall, April ISES meeting

Foxhall, April ISES meeting

I had the privilege of touring the grounds of the Foxhall Resort and Sporting Club on the very south side of Douglasville last week. The International Special Events Society held there April meeting there and Wow was it delightful. I plan to go back again soon to ride horses and take more photos of the awesome landscape. If I'm real ambitious one morning, I'll get up early and go before the fog lifts. I'll be sure to share what I find.

ISES at the Amazing Foxhall Resort and Sporting Club

The Atlanta chapter of the International Special Events Society met last week at an incredible new venue space, the Foxhall Resort and Sporting Club. The resort has been given permits to build 2,300,000 square feet of resort space, including hotels, convention space, condominiums and Private Resident Clubs. Members of ISES toured the property, shared great food from Low Country Barbeque and enjoyed entertainment provided by Amusement Masters and Burgess Amusements. Event Design including floral arrangements was provided by Steve Bales, Creative Director at Bold American and music by Lethal Rhythms.

Here are a few photos of folks enjoying themselves. On Thursday, I'll post more about Foxhall's beautiful property.

Wedding Day Emotions

Wedding Day Emotions

Had to share this blog post from Southall Eden Paperie and Farm Weddings.

Shannon O'Kelley, Owner and Creative Director at Southall Eden writes: "Let’s face it. Weddings are crazy expensive. I’m all about finding ways to save money, and there are lots of ways you can do so. But if you only splurge on one thing for your wedding, LET IT BE PHOTOGRAPHY. That’s right, I’m a venue owner and a stationery designer and I’m not telling you that your splurge item should not be one of those things, but photography. Why?"
