Atlanta Couple Featured on Cake Hunters

Just finished watching the season premier of Cake Hunters, featuring "sophisticated Vanessa and her Southern beau, Tim." That's the way the folks at the Cooking Channel describe the amazing couple whose wedding we photographed the end of April. You can decide for yourself if the description fits by watching the episode for yourself here.

We were blown away by the look and the taste of the winning cake created by the ladies at Confection Perfection. (The other two cakes were spectacular, as well.)

So sorry we couldn't taste every layer of the winning cake, and sure you will be, too, once you hear the detailed description of every layers' scrumptousness when you watch the show.

After teaching photojournalism at colleges and universities in Florida, Indiana and Mississippi, I returned to Atlanta to earn myfifth degree--a Master's of Divinity.

My passion for storytelling with my camera and my interest in religious diversity led my to the field of wedding photojournalism.

I have documented weddings large and small, Unitarian and Pagan, indoors and out, Christian and Muslim, in backyards and in churches. The most exotic wedding I have photographed took place in Mexico and was officiated by aMayan shaman.

When I'm not photographing weddings, portraits or corporate events, I work on personal photo projects, visit friends in amemory-care home, and volunteer at a recovery center.

A few years back I joined a group of volunteers called Yellow Ribbon Photographers.

Photographers who join agree to provide a photo session along with several prints to military personnel about to deploy.

About a month ago, I got my first call from a couple interested in taking me up on my offer. Peter and Lauren are both in the Air Force and are about to be deployed to Germany.

What a fun duo! I had a blast capturing the love and adoration they have for each other.

One of the many blessings associated with being a wedding photographer is the opportunity to get to know wonderful new couples and their families on one of the happiest days of their lives. 

Sometimes I am privileged to meet and get to know a couple before their wedding, as well. Tim and Vanessa were one such couple. I photographed their engagement session in Pine Lake on a drizzly afternoon. Instead of griping about getting wet, they enjoyed hamming it up for the camera in the rain.

So, it was no surprise that both of them spread joy to friends and family who joined them for their wedding ceremony and celebration. Vanessa's laughter was contagious. Tim's antics kept everyone in stitches, including the youngest ring bearer.
